My name is Colin Williams and I was born in Christchurch New Zealand.
I found that whilst being at school I applied myself best when it was hands on, doing something constructive or creative.
After leaving school I had many different jobs either doing gardening or building. I have been lucky enough to work with some people who were at the top of their field and learnt a great deal. One of my employers was ‘old Des’, a true craftsman. He would win awards every year and even claimed top New Zealand Landscaper. I used to think to myself “What a fussy, fastidious old man he was”. Looking back now I think to myself he was so right. I thank him for what he drummed into me. He gave me a taste for stonework and after Des retired I went onto work for a Master Stonemason and after a short while I realised what I was born for. There was no greater feeling than to look back at what I had built that day and go home satisfied of my achievements. One of the most important things I have learnt over the years is to have good foundations. If it’s for a driveway, a garden wall, a house or even life itself. I believe all the jobs I have done and all the employers that have taught me have given me the foundation to run my own business.

My business, Kiwi Kol Landscapes, has been established now for ten years. In that time I have always worked hard and always done the best workmanship possible. My goal is to walk away from every job knowing that my client was happy and satisfied with what I have done. I have worked hard to build a reputation to give a quality product. I won’t take on every job that comes my way, if I know that the finished job isn’t going to look right or a client wants me to use a second hand product that has seen far better days, I will let them know. The reason being at the end of the day it has got my name on it. I always look forward to meeting new clients, I have built some great friendships over the years. Some clients I have not even met but they know what they want, give me a plan and let me get on with it. Some clients want to sit and watch and have a bit of a chat. Then there is the clients who want to help either it to be my labourer or to learn some new skills. This can certainly help to keep the budget down. I am very easy to work with to get the best result for you and to get the job done.
